Lake Raj has been proudly serving patrons from Bowness-on-Windermere and further afield for over a decade, and we welcome every new visitor.
We are on Longlands Road, right next to the Royalty Cinema, with a pay and display car park immediately outside and the lake a few minutes back down the hill. More than a thousand five-star reviews have come in across Tripadvisor and Google in that time, and we would rather you read the menu than take our word for any of it.
Our suppliers vouch that the meat and chicken are halal, and the cooking is built around the clay oven and sauces that are started long before service. There is a long list of house specialities: the Deshi Shatkora curry, its sharpness coming from the citrus fruit it is named after; the naga, for anyone craving something hotter; and milder dishes built on almonds and cream.
What people say
Read through the reviews and one thing appears in every single one: the staff. Friendly, patient, and inclined to go further than they need to, whether that is finding room for a table of twelve at short notice, bringing a child a dessert nobody asked for, or making a curry hotter because someone fancied it. After that comes the flavour, and then how many people mention that they keep coming back, year after year.
